The ROTA THW3 quick-change jaw chuck masters the balancing act of short setup times and low maintenance. With patented sealing of the chuck mechanism and quick jaw change, the chuck is for users producing small and medium quantities and frequently switching between jobs.

The lathe chuck accelerates the jaw change on CNC lathes, pick-up lathes, and turning-milling centers, while providing jaw change repeatability <0.02mm. Jaw sets turned out once can be used again, even with demanding tolerances. The jaw stroke of the straight-toothed base jaws is 6.7mm to 10.5mm, depending on the size. A ring piston with a direct power transmission ensures a high degree of efficiency: In the smallest size 200, the chuck achieves a clamping force of 64kN, in size 400 it’s 240kN. Its hardened and stiff base body ensures precise and reliable machining even under maximum stress. A chuck bore from 52mm (size 200) to 165mm (size 630), protective rifles that can be exchanged from the front, and the possibility of internal and external tension enable versatile use. There’s also the option of supplementing the chuck with an adjustable stop.

Two solid carbide circle segment milling cutters, the MD838 Supreme (conical) and the MD839 Supreme (tangential) deliver up to 90% faster finishing than ball nose end mills, due to new geometry of milling cutters featuring large radii in the cutting area and a higher number of teeth.

Tough, reliable machining is obtained with long overhangs to attain high-precision components. Specially developed geometries make milling cutters suited for final machining of components with steep walls, deep cavities, prismatic surfaces, and transition radii.

The Walter MD838 Supreme (conical version) has an effective radius of 250mm to 1,000mm, a corner radius of 0.5mm to 4.0mm, and is available in diameters of 6mm to 16mm. Walter also offers a version of this tool with ConeFit exchangeable head. The MD839 Supreme (tangential version) has an effective radius of 100mm, a corner radius of 1mm to 4mm, and comes in diameters of 6mm to 16mm.

In some extrusion applications using crossheads and in-lines, layers of the same material are applied multiple times using a single die, reducing errors caused by gels breaking through a thin wall, weld lines, inconsistent wall thickness, and material and process variations. Additional errors include difficult-to-process materials and demanding applications with zero fault tolerance.

Seeking to overcome these challenges, engineers at Guill looked for a way to incorporate this technology into an updated version of the 800 Series, leading to the 800 Series Hybrid. The 800 Series’ benefits are retained but the challenge was creating a hybrid design incorporating the benefits of layer overlapping while reducing unnecessary complexity. This was achieved by overlapping layers in each semi-deflector, using a single cone.

Benefits of the 800 Series Hybrid include eliminating weld lines in materials, producing a more consistent finished product, reduced sensitivity to changes in viscosity, reduced sensitivity to changes in line speed, more materials and multi-layer applications, works in all tubing and jacketing applications, low residence time, compact design, and a low tolerance stack-up error factor.
