V1, the Keychron's new customizable mechanical keyboard, is ideal for entry-level users

Today Keychron, established manufacturer of wireless mechanical keyboards for Mac, Windows and Android, launched direct sales of V1 on the brand’s website. Unlike Keychron’s previous keyboard models, which have slight variations to appeal to the many unique needs of seasoned mechanical keyboard users, V1 is ideal for entry-level users. The barebone version is available at an accessible price of $64 USD whereas the fully assembled version is $84 USD.

“Since 2017, we’ve successfully launched and fulfilled 19 mechanical keyboards to customers in more than 80 countries. For us, this is evidence that mechanical keyboard use is becoming more mainstream,” said Paul Tan, COO of Keychron. “As advocates for comfortable typing experiences, we wanted to create a customizable keyboard that would introduce budding enthusiasts to our brand and the hobby in an accessible way.”

V1 is a 75% layout mechanical keyboard, with tray mount design, hot-swappable switches, south-facing RGB, programmable knob, 1000 Hz polling rate, double-shot PBT keycaps, QMK/VIA support, and more. Everything is customizable. V1 comes with a fully assembled version, but users can personalize every part of the keyboard with ease to create their ultimate typing experience.

This budget-friendly keyboard offers a unique Mac layout that retains the same multimedia and function keys as the Apple keyboard, while still being compatible with Windows devices. It comes with a system toggle and an additional set of customized keycaps for both Windows and macOS systems, allowing users to save two different layouts on the keyboard.

“Our mission is to make it possible for everyone to enjoy custom mechanical keyboards. That’s why V1 delivers the best value for the price in the custom mechanical keyboard market,” continued Tan. “With its translucent frosted black case, acoustic silicone pad, QMK/VIA support, south-facing RBG lights, and Keychron K Pro switches, it truly elevates the entry-level design.”

V1 comes in the non-knob and knob versions. The programmable knob, one of the most popular features of the Keychron keyboards, is designed to enhance the creative workflow. It allows users to easily customize their favorite keys and macros, such as zooming in/out, adjusting screen brightness, brush size, volume or selecting video clips of photos.

“First-time assemblers will love the fact that they can customize the switches and the keycaps,” added Tan. “They might be hooked and want to test out one of our other keyboards, such as our Q or K Pro series.”
