Today Keychron, established manufacturer of wireless mechanical keyboards for Mac, Windows and Android, launched direct sales of V2 on the brand’s website. This model follows on the heels of Keychron’s popular V1 keyboard, which is ideal for entry-level users. V2 is also intended for new hobbyists, but steps things up a notch with the visually striking, 65% layout. The barebone version is available at an accessible price of $64 USD whereas the fully assembled version is $84 USD.

“We believe that everyone should try a custom keyboard,” said Paul Tan, COO of Keychron. “The improvement in typing experience is enormous compared with regular keyboards. We believe that people will love them and we created the V1 and V2 with this goal in mind.”

The V2 is a 65% ultra-compact layout mechanical keyboard supported by QMK/VIA software, which can offer users endless possibilities of customization and meet their needs in different situations. With double-shot PBT keycaps, an acoustic silicone pad, programmable knob, and other premium features like south-facing RGB, tray mount design, hot swappable switches, and 1000 Hz polling rate, V2 will ensure that users get the best typing experience. It is available in two color options: frosted black (translucent) and carbon black (non-transparent).

The programmable knob, one of the most popular features of the Keychron keyboards, is designed to enhance the creative workflow. It allows users to easily customize their favorite keys and macros, such as zooming in/out, adjusting screen brightness, brush size, volume or selecting video clips of photos.

This customizable keyboard offers a unique Mac layout that retains the same multimedia and function keys as the Apple keyboard, while still being compatible with Windows devices. It comes with a system toggle and an additional set of customized keycaps for both Windows and macOS systems, allowing users to save two different layouts on the keyboard.

The fully assembled version includes: ABS plastic housing, the keyboard PCB, screw-in stabs, steel plate, double-shot OSA PBT keycaps (including Mac & Windows keycaps), and Keychron K Pro switches.

“Each feature was thoughtfully developed with consideration for various use cases, the everyday user experience, and the feedback of thousands of people,” continued Tan. “With the QMK support, we made V2 fully customizable, inside and out. It was created for people to enter and explore the world of custom keyboards and what it means to create their ultimate typing experience.”
